The puck that Sidney Crosby scored at the Olympics to win gold for Canada will be the highlight of a Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit coming to the Discovery Centre, February 11-20. The display is hosted by the Halifax 2011 Canada Games and the Discovery Centre, proudly sponsored by Bell Aliant. This is the first time the puck has travelled to Crosby’s home province of Nova Scotia.
“Who doesn’t remember where they were when Crosby scored that goal,” says Dov Bercovici the President and CEO of the Discovery Centre. “It’s such an iconic part of Canada’s hockey history, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the puck and the other Hockey Hall of Fame displays here…”
“This is just another great reason to be in Halifax during the Games,” says Games CEO Chris Morrissey. “We’re thrilled to partner with Bell Aliant to bring this exhibit to town – it will enhance the visitor experience, bring pride to Nova Scotians, and in general, will make for more great memories in Halifax.”
In homage to Sidney Crosby’s famous puck-dented dryer, visitors will have the opportunity to test their shooting skills against the Discovery Centre dryer for their chance to win tickets to the Men’s Gold Medal hockey game. Visitors will also discover the science behind the evolution of hockey equipment including sticks, pucks and skates.
The exhibit runs at the Discovery Centre from February 11-20, and coincides with PLAY – the newest exhibit at the Discovery Centre, which uses life-size game pieces to encourage social interaction and the fine art of play.
